About the event
Tianao Pan (cello) started playing the piano at the age of three, and the cello at age of seven. Two years later, he was admitted into the Special School of Young Musicians of the Central Conservatory in Beijing (Grade 4-6). In 2016, he progressed to the Beijing Central Conservatory Middle School and studied there for two years. During his studies there,
he participated in many chamber music and solo performances and had many
opportunities to play the cello concerto with the school orchestra.
From 2017-2018, Tian-ao was the vice principal cellist of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra. He was also the principal cellist of the Chinese Youth Orchestra. Tian-ao began his studies at the Purcell School in London in September 2018, studying the cello under the tutelage of Mr. Pal Banda. During his studies at The Purcell School, he won the school's concerto competition and had the opportunity to play Shostakovich's first cello
Concerto in the concert with the school orchestra. He has also held chamber and
solo concerts in many churches and concert halls and had many masterclasses
from famous cellists around the world. He was also invited to play the Haydn
Cello Concerto and Tchaikovsky rococo variations with the Shanghai Philharmonic
Orchestra and Beijing Symphony Orchestra and also held his first special solo
concert at the Beijing National Concert Hall.
He has been awarded a full scholarship from several conservatories and will begin his undergraduate degree at the New England Conservatory in Boston this September.
