SMALL MARBLE LION
漢白玉小石獅
Description: This small stone lion is carved with marble in great details. The wide-opening eyes, swirling hairs in the head and the muscular arms demonstrate power expressing the sprit of Tang dynasty. Different from most of the lion sculptures from the same period of time, this lion has a closed month only the two fangs are exposed. Normally Tang dynasty stone lions are maded in pair: one looks ahead, while the other sometimes like this one turns to the left side.
